AP meets the internet
Associated Press has been the target of much internet ridicule the past couple of weeks with their grand but oh-so-vague diagram showing how they plan to reform news on the web. This boingboing post is a good intro, and don’t miss the fabulous remix of their diagram, laying out the plan in more honest and down-to-earth language.
Now you can actually start using this system and pay for their stories. I’ll let the publish and payment options speak for themselves. Each door, Print, Email, Post and Republish, holds forms you wouldn’t think you’d see in 2009, but my personal favourite is where AP lets me print 5 copies (with ads, mind you) on my home printer. I just came from the actual article page with AdBlock enabled where I could print as many adless copies as I want.
Welcome to the internet, AP. I wish you luck.
UPDATE: I don’t think this is the same news DRM-system as in the much published diagram. This seems to have been around for a while and the diagram is something new that they’re working on. AP meets the internet
